Kawhia harbour is steeped in Maori and European history and the skippers may, if it's a heritage cruise, point out many of the historical landmarks, which includes the burial place of the Great sea-voyaging waka "Tainui and the old pa sites of "Te Rauparaha, the famous warrior chief of Ngati Toa, considered to be the Napoleon of the Maori world.
Kawhia harbour also has some very unique natural wonders that can only be seen by boat, so your harbour cruise will not only be a scenic delight, but very informative also.
